The Original Ninfa’s Uptown Houston has an opening date. After teasing the news last summer about Uptown expansion plans, the James Beard Award-nominated Tex-Mex icon is ready to open its new location on June 10.

When The Original Ninfa’s Uptown Houston throws open its doors in San Felipe’s BLVD Place at 1700 Post Oak Boulevard next week, expect to find the same menu (think sizzling beef skirt steak fajitas) and pricing found at the Original Ninfa’s on Navigation. There will be some surprises too from the restaurant’s executive chef Jason Gould, like a happy hour bar menu from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays along with new cocktails that are exclusive to the Uptown location.

The 280-seat restaurant with patio includes callbacks to the original location, like a tortilla station, wood-burning oven, and wood-burning grill. Designed by by Michael Hsu of Austin and Houston’s Studio Red Architects, the walls are covered with black and white photos of “Mama” Ninfa Laurenzo.

Hours of operation for this new restaurant also will be the same as The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation: get there Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with weekend brunch until 2 p.m. The Uptown location will eventually launch weekday breakfast too.
