SomiSomi, a California ice cream chain known for its vivid swirls of soft serve, has officially arrived in Katy.

The new ice cream destination opened its doors at 23330 Grand Circle Boulevard, Suite 150, in Katy over the weekend. As Eater reported previously, the Katy outpost is the first of two SomiSomi locations currently in the works for Houston — another is set to open in SugarLand in the coming months.

An Instagram darling, SomiSomi serves up several different flavors of soft serve, including matcha, ube, black sesame, Oreo, and coffee, along with a rotating selection of those flavors swirled together. The soft serve can be served in a (boring) cup or freshly-baked taiyaki (fish-shaped) ice cream cone that’s filled with custard, red bean paste, or Nutella. For folks who want to skip the ice cream, SomiSomi also serves taiyaki filled with cheddar, taro, or red bean paste and cream cheese.

Ice cream junkies can now head to SomiSomi from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
