Chongqing Chicken Pot, a new Asiatown hot pot destination, has quietly opened its doors at the piping-hot Bellaire Food Street development.
The restaurant kicked open the doors for a “soft opening” on Saturday, July 28, and is now serving up a unique take on the classic Chinese hot pot. As Eater reported previously, the restaurant is known for serving up big, shareable stir-fry dishes, and then once the meal is finished, a rich broth is poured into the bowl and even more ingredients can be added at the end to turn that stir fry into a hot pot.
A variety of different “pots” will be on offer at Chongqing, including the namesake chicken pot that’s loaded with “superior” chicken, red pepper, onion, celery, cilantro, and “special chicken pot sauce.” There’s also a frog pot loaded with tons of chiles, and a garlic pork ribs pot that’s stocked with potatoes, peppers, and cilantro.
Chongqing Chicken Pot is just the latest restaurant to debut at the bustling Bellaire Food Street, which recently welcomed Vietnamese eatery Migo Saigon Food Street, Xinjiang skewer spot Fat Ni BBQ, Taiwanese dessert shop Meet Fresh, and Japanese cream puff chain Beard Papa all within the past few months. Even more restaurants are still in the works, including yet another chicken-focused restaurant in Korean fried chicken spot Soho Chicken.
Now serving lunch and dinner, Chongqing Chicken Pot is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
