An exciting new bar called Silver Lining opens today in the Downtown underground food hall Understory.
The new concept heads to the tunnels from some veteran bar owners including Roveen “Ro” Abante and Florenico “Diko” Jopio III, best known for Lincoln Bar on Washington Avenue. Their new endeavor draws its name from the cloud-inspired installation hanging above the bar, which is visible from Capitol, Rusk, and Milam streets.
The duo tapped Robby Cook and Omar Villavivencio to create a menu of signature cocktails and revamp the classics including an old fashioned and paloma. Beer and wine will also be on offer at the first stand-alone bar in the tunnel network. Silver Lining joins seven already-open food tenants: East Hampton Sandwich Co., Boomtown Coffee, Mama Ninfa’s Tacos y Tortas, MONA Fresh Italian Food, Flip ‘n Patties, and SeaSide Poké with one as-yet-unnamed tenant remaining.
Silver Lining is officially open in time for the weekend. Stay tuned for news of the eighth tenant headed to Understory.
Update 8/2/19: this article has been updated to reflect that Silver Lining is now open.
