After a soft opening over the weekend, all-day cafe and wine bar Penny Quarter opens its doors officially today in the space that once housed nightclub Etro. This is the latest project from acclaimed duo Justin Yu and Bobby Heugel, who just opened up new European restaurant Squable in April as a follow-up to their Eater 2017 bar of the year Better Luck Tomorrow.
The new look for Penny Quarter, located at 1424 Westheimer Road adjacent to Anvil, involves dramatic mod light fixtures, a walnut-topped bar, and lots of natural light.
Heugel posted on Instagram stories yesterday, writing: “This beautiful space opens tomorrow.” He added that the restaurant is open everyday from 7 a.m. to midnight (with later hours until 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Wine and coffee will be served at all hours, with espresso drinks until 3 p.m.
