A Vegas vegan restaurant sets its sights on Houston

Chef Kenny’s Asian Vegan, a drive-thru fast-food eatery that hails from Las Vegas, has set its sights on Houston. According to Eater Las Vegas, the restaurant will soon take over the space at 6128 Wilcrest Drive, formerly occupied by Tuk-Tuk Crab. No official opening timeline has been announced, but when it arrives, expect vegan sushi, kung pao “beef,” pad thai, and more Asian-inspired, meat-free eats.

Lyle Bento parts ways with Sambrooks Management

About 11 months after joining Sambrooks Management, the restaurant group behind spots like 1751 Sea and Bar and the Pit Room, former Southern Goods and Underbelly Hospitality chef Lyle Bento has parted ways with the company. Both Bento and Sambrooks Management have stayed tight-lipped about the chef’s departure, but the latter released a statement this week announcing that Bento had resigned his post. “The company is thankful for his contributions and wishes him success in his future endeavors,” the statement read in part.

There’s a new farmers market in the Heights

Heights Mercantile is now home to the city’s newest farmers market. According to CultureMap, the monthly market will kick off on Sunday, September 29 with a dozen or so local produce vendors.
