Later this spring, the minds behind Heights hotspots Savoir and La Grande Rue will open a brand new restaurant in Garden Oaks.
Restaurateur Brian Doke tells Eater that his team is working on an as-yet-unnamed, all-day restaurant for the space formerly occupied by Liberty Kitchen at 3715 Alba Road, confirming speculation from Houston real estate forum HAIF. According to Doke, the new restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day long, and it won’t be anything like Savoir or La Grande Rue. “We want to bring together the feel of a neighborhood spot, bringing together the pieces of a diner, bistro, deli, and restaurant,” he says.
Much of the renovation that will be completed on the space will be on the outdoor patio area, which will eventually host nightly events. “Who doesn’t enjoy a big open space in Houston with food, drinks, and pastry,” he asked. “We want it to fit Garden Oaks and really be a good addition to that neighborhood.”
Speaking of drinks, Doke says that he hasn’t made his mind up yet on whether or not this new spot will serve cocktails, but it will definitely offer a “thoughtful and approachable” wine list with a variety of price points.
In addition to the full-service dining room, Garden Oaks residents can also expect a bakery and market space with grab-and-go options. The bakery will produce between 10 and 25 freshly baked pastries each day, including pies, cakes, cookies, and multiple different types of bread, along with fancy candy options, chocolates, and a full coffee menu.
Doke currently anticipates that the new restaurant will make its debut sometime in May. Stay tuned for more details on what the menu will look like, and of course, what this exciting new addition to Garden Oaks will be named.
