New York chain Chick’nCone, a fast-casual spot known for pairing giant waffle cones with crunchy fried chicken, has officially landed in Houston proper.

The restaurant just opened its doors at 1919 North Shepherd Drive in the Heights, bringing yet another trendy new eatery to this booming dining neighborhood. As reported previously by Eater, the first Houston-area outpost of Chick’nCone opened its doors in 2018 in The Woodlands. That location was pretty short-lived, but its owners are clearly banking on higher traffic and visibility in the Heights to find success in Houston’s increasingly crowded dining market.

As far as the food is concerned, the menu at Chick’nCone is pretty tight. There’s the famed Chick’nCone, or a waffle cone filled with nuggets of fried chicken that are slathered in sauces like cinnamon-maple, buffalo blue cheese, and peri peri. There’s also a “flight” of cones on the menu that allows diners to try four different sauces in smaller cones, and a chicken sandwich. There is, though, craft beer on the menu, which seems like an obvious pairing for a fried chicken stuffed waffle cone.

Eater has reached out to Chick’nCone for its full hours of operations. The restaurant will host a grand opening party on March 6 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with $4 chicken cones, free samples, and wine tastings.
