Four years after opening its doors in the Heights, popular bagel purveyor Golden Bagels and Coffee has announced plans to permanently close its doors.

The news came in a Facebook post on Wednesday morning, announcing that Golden Bagels and Coffee will serve its last rounds of dough in September. As previously reported by Eater, the bagel shop opened its doors in 2018, with the ambition of serving the finest New York style bagels in Houston. It quickly earned a loyal following thanks to its chewy bagels and hulking sandwiches.

“We are proud to have served you and become an integral part of our Heights community over the past 4 years. We thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your lives,” reads the farewell post. “We hope to see all of your smiling faces one or two more times before we lock the doors for good.”

Golden Bagels and Coffee will close its doors on September 26, which means that there’s still plenty of time to score an everything bagel loaded down with lox — or a bagel BLT — before this Heights spot shutters for good.
