Burger Hotspot Del Frisco's Grille

In testimony to Houston's love for burgers, six new restaurants serving interesting, delicious specimens have popped up since February's inaugural Burger Heatmap. In honor of Burger Week, it's time for an update.

What's new? Well, how about former food truck operator Jason Kerr's all Prime patties at Hollister on Washington. Perhaps the Shake Shack inspired secret sauce at Del Frisco's Grille holds appeal. If that's still not enough, Valentino VIN Bar is serving a gator burger. Get to work, burger hounds. There's eating to do.

Houston's foremost purveyors of meat in tube form make a pretty wicked burger, too. This one is called Chong: bread and butter jalapenos, fried egg, smoked cheddar, emmentaler swiss, bacon and creole mustard. They're BOGO every Wednesday.

Batanga

Available only at lunch, the burger at downtown's patio hotspot is a mix of brisket and short rib topped with the restaurant's rather excellent homemade pickles and served on a brioche bun.

Gratifi offers a full menu of burgers include grass-fed, buffalo and the onion-ring topped Honky Tonk.

Brooklyn Athletic Club

The Clubhouse burger comes topped with your choice of redneck cheddar or American cheese. Most importantly, in place of mustard or mayo, there's tomato jalapeno jam. Boom.

Local Pour

The house burger is a half-pound of chuck and short rib topped with blue cheese and caramelized onions that's served on a croissant bun.

Hollister on Washington

Chef Jason Kerr makes his burger using trimming from Prime beef, which ensures each patty is juicy and has a strong, beefy flavor. The regular burger is solid, but off-the-menu specials can be particularly wild.

Del Frisco's Grille

The new, more casual siblings to the Galleria steakhouse offers a burger inspired by New York's Shake Shack. It's a thin patty with gooey cheese and a secret "special sauce."

Nosh Bistro

This loungey space on Kirby uses Pat LaFrieda beef to make a well-seasoned patty that's served on a soft, eggy bun. In her Nosh review, Press critic Katharine Shilcutt called it "one of the most overlooked and underappreciated burgers in town."

Up Restaurant

The massive, 3/4lb burger is made from steak trimmings, which means it's 80% prime filet. That gives it an intense beefy flavor and enough juices to overwhelm the Slow Dough bun.

Valentino Vin Bar

Valentino VIN Bar has introduced a new menu of wild game burgers that includes the alligator-patty based, $22 Roughneck. Roughneck Burger [29-95]

Kenny & Ziggy's Deli

Houston's best deli has introduced a new line of burgers built around 8oz Pat LaFrieda patties. The Zigalicious is topped with pastrami, Swiss, coleslaw and Russian dressing.

Etoile Cuisine Et Bar

Available on both the lunch and brunch menus, there's something wrong about eating a burger instead of chef Philippe Verpiand's carefully crafted French cuisine, but the 8oz, house ground patty on a brioche bun tastes so right.
