Gone are the days when black or white truffles were a rarity on Houston restaurant menus. The potent, funky flavor of fresh truffle or garnish of airy shavings can be hard to resist, and with so many truffle-laden dishes on menus of all types, why resist at all?

Often offered as a tableside garnish or pricey upgrade to simple plates like pasta, adding this coveted fungi to a dish can definitely be pricey. But when you’re in the mood to splurge, few things are more luxurious than a bowl of pasta showered generously in black truffle shavings.

The truffled grilled cheese at this eatery in The Woodlands became a permanent menu fixture after chef Austin Simmons won the coveted Truffle Masters prize in 2018, and for good reason.
